There are certain stories about gay marriage that the left does not want you to know about: the stories of those who were raised with gay parents.

As Australia debates their own vote on same-sex marriage, an American woman who was raised by a same-sex couple is visiting to share her story and give a face to some of the damage that can be done when we pretend homosexual couples are just the same as heterosexual couples.

Katy Faust is the author of the blogs asktheBigot and Them Before Us where she speaks out against gay marriage from her own experiences. She recently spoke with ABC Australia about how her childhood influenced her views.

Although she loves her mother and her mother’s partner, Faust says, neither took the place of a father, and she believes no woman can.

“While my mother was a fantastic mother and most of what I do well as a mother myself I do because that’s how she parented me, she can’t be a father,” she explained. “Her partner, an incredible woman — both of these women have my heart — cannot be a father either.”

Due to her love for these women, he never intended to be in the spotlight and began blogging anonymously. However, when a gay activist outed her, it thrust her into the public eye.

“I wouldn’t be having this interview with you today, because I never intended to be involved in the legal fight, but because I was outed in the name of love and tolerance, I am talking with you today,” she notes.

She says people like her are in a tough position, and she’s been contacted by many others who feel awkward expressing their views on homosexual parenting because they don’t want to make it more difficult with the people who raised them.

“There’s several children that have contacted me even since I started writing about this, saying ‘I agree with you, but I’ll never come out and speak about this publicly because my relationship with my parent is too tenuous’.”

Faust became a Christian in high school, and at first, she struggled with the Biblical teachings on homosexuality due to how she had been raised.

“Because there’s a fierce protectiveness I think that all children have for their parents,” she explains. “But what I was delighted to find when I read Scripture is that God has an incredible heart for the orphan and that he’s very concerned with the plight of children.”

The plight of the children is exactly what God put on her heart, and she believes that it is the responsibility of parents everywhere to put the needs of their children above their personal desires and preferences.

By thrusting children into an abnormal family situation simply due to one’s own sexual preference, we are reversing those roles, she says.

“Children have rights … the onus needs to be on adults to conform to the rights of children rather than children fitting into an adult’s lifestyle. And certainly, I don’t think that homosexuals are responsible by any means for the crisis that we face in America when it comes to family structure these days. Absolutely, heterosexuals have led the way on that charge.”

It is true that the gay agenda is being pushed by straight people just as much as it is by gay people. People everywhere who have no respect for God’s design for marriage nor regard for the basic facts of biology have fought for decades to normalize abnormal sexual behavior. And they have succeeded tremendously.

But who are the real victims?

Divorce, out-of-wedlock births, homosexual parenting, and encouraging trans-sexuality in children is inherently damaging to the most precious asset humanity has; its children.

The next generation is at risk by the war the left is waging on the traditional family unit. This is why it is so important to make our voices heard now, before it is too late.
