Your ideas of retirement are a pipe dream. Please do not expect a pension to continue indefinitely
for Judy’s teaching. Social Security is already bankrupt. (read it all) I feel you should gather some economic
statistics and have a serious sit down with your children. With those that “get it”, you might plan something with them
as an extended family. We need to end our lives in service, and forget the idea of retirement. Retirement (comfort heaven and “free time”) will not exist.
We need to shift our expectations IMO. I feel you are open enough to examine if this is true.
Here is some economic data showing we are in a spiral of debt.
In the 2015 report of the Social Security and Medicare Board of Trustees they state very plainly:
“Social Security as a whole as well as Medicare cannot sustain projected long-run program costs…”, and that the government should be “giving the public adequate time to prepare.”
